English language classes and computer training for disadvantaged youth and children (2002-2006)

SYC recognizes the importance of foreign language and technological skills for young Armenians, in order to enhance possibilities of young people in current job market, connect them with peers from various countries, and reach to informational and educational sources.

SYC organized free English language classes and computer training for disadvantaged youth and children of Stepanavan and surrounding villages for four years. SYC members, including Arpineh Khalyan, Artak Manoukyan and U.S. Peace Corps volunteer Don Kramer, volunteered their time and efforts to make the services available for youngsters in Stepanavan.

“Stable Steps” SYC capacity building program (2002)

“Stable Steps” was a capacity building project implemented with the financial support of NGO Resource and Training Center of the Armenian Assambly of America. As a newly established organization, Stepanavan Youth Center was given a significant opportunity to develop its vision and strategic plan, develop human resource capacity through involvement of volunteers, training sessions for staff and members. The SYC strengthened its external relations through development of public relation tooks, and improved communication systems. This project enabled SYC to pass through the initial forming stage much faster - get expert counceling, learn necessary skills and obtain useful information for a successful journey as an organization.

Psychological and legal counseling (2002-2003)

SYC provided legal and psychological counseling to population in Stepanavan and surrounding 18 villages.
